Saving With Comfort By ECO4 : Loft Insulation Grant

Loft Insulation Grants cover full installation costs. Qualifying for benefits may mean a 100% free grant; if not, we connect you with local installers for a free survey and quote. Costs range from £300 to £500.Government’s Green Deal and Energy Companies Obligation (ECO) mandate major Energy Suppliers (British Gas, NPower, E-ON, etc.) to fund insulation in homes. Loft Insulation, a cost-effective solution, could save up to £150 annually by preventing 25% of heat loss through the roof.

In cold climates, uninsulated homes lose 25% of heat through the roof. Loft insulation, lasting 40+ years, is a cost-effective solution, optimizing heating efficiency and reducing energy bills and carbon footprint.
If the current insulation is level with or below the loft floor joists (i.e., 4 inches or less), you may qualify for a grant to top up the insulation.
A small amount of boarding is allowed, but if it exceeds 20%, boards must be lifted before work. Installers can’t lift boards or help with joist adjustments.
The loft hatch must be 400mm/16″ square. Installers may enlarge it, or a builder can assist.
While guarantees are not mandatory, some installers offer optional two-year financial protection mechanisms. Mandatory guarantees may be introduced in 2021.

Types of Loft Insulations

Dormer

A dormer loft conversion involves a vertical extension that protrudes from the slope of a roof, creating additional space within the structure.

L-Shape

An L-shaped loft conversion is a strategic design that maximizes space, especially beneficial when additional headroom is needed.

Hip-To-Gable

Hipped roofs limit loft space, requiring extensions for loft conversions. Hip-to-gable extensions offer a solution.

Velux

This conversion preserves the current roof shape, ideal when dormers are restricted or unnecessary. Roof lights like Velux windows bring in natural light.

Mansard

Mansard loft conversions require extensive construction but significantly expand your living space, regardless of your property type.

Do you qualify for a Loft Insulation Grant?

Did you know that inadequate insulation can cause a home to lose a third of its heat?
This occurs when your roof isn’t sufficiently insulated, particularly if you reside in a windy area, as it might result in expensive repairs. You might avoid this by using roof defrosting equipment to clear the ice buildup on your roof. Loft insulation grants may help you avoid these costs and save money. Your annual heating costs will drop by several hundred pounds because of loft insulation.
To help people reduce their energy costs, it is possible to apply for a loft insulation grant from the government in the United Kingdom. The installation of insulation is supported by a number of schemes in the United Kingdom. Government-sponsored insulations are designed to help people and families with lower incomes concentrate completely on increasing the energy efficiency of their home. Your annual heating and utility bill savings from loft insulation could range from £120 to £280.
